As with any other thing in life, the only way to get better at drawing is to practice. But it’s sometimes difficult to practice drawing when you don’t know what to draw. I’m sure that now and again, you find yourself simply unable to start scribbling because there are a thousand half-baked ideas in your mind but somehow, none of them seems worth actually putting on paper.
This is where something like reddit’s /r/DrawForMe can really help because it never runs out of people wanting something drawn–from simple subjects to weird ones like the fish-eagle creature I drew above. The good thing about it is that you’re challenged to draw stuff that may be out of your comfort zone, so you get to discover new things while getting some real good practice. Drawing this fish-eagle made me observe and understand a lot about the anatomy of, well, fish and eagles while I was sketching it.
